Portland, where I met my wife again after four month, is famous for its Brewerys and Streetfood which we enjoyed a lot. The beautiful Chinese, Japanese and Rosegarden in Combination with the great Modern Art Museum were definitely a visit worth! In the evening we enjoyed an open air jazz festival. My last Hikingdays alone on the trail. Somehow a first farewell to the PCT. Got 1850 miles to Crater Lake in Oregon in four months. This is a little less than originally planned, the High Sierra and a few unforeseen ones. But every mile was an enrichment, and it's hard to describe in brief words the overwhelming experiences. Just woke up in the middle of the night and look at the Stars above. Have a phantastic View over the Landscape here. Last days were difficult... headache, weakness, slow down, lost moments. I met really wonderful people, Trailangels who hitched me, and a young Family at the Campground. It's sometimes unbelievable how the trail and Live cares when you are really down. Got my Camera back again, which I sent forward in am Package, let's see how inspiring the upcoming days are. Miss you all at home...

Arrived yesterday at Donnerpass and brought the last day of snow behind me. (see also the pictures in the folder High Sierra 2). That was a really hard test, physically, mentally and in the end also socially. Seen and experienced a lot of incredible landscape. I hope it will be a little easier now. I will reduce the luggage a bit to make more mileage. At the moment it is 20-25 but it should be 25-30. Unfortunately, this night I gave away the expensive food from the burger and burrito yesterday...

I'm back in town. Incredible hard nine days are passed by. Still a lot of snow, difficult navigation and slow hiking because of postholing. Rivercrossing also slows down, and gets more and more dangerous. I reached 900 miles - 1800 ahead of me...

Gut einen Monat unterwegs und gestern Meile 500 erreicht. Heute geht es nach Hikertown ein Campground wo wir von Trailangels verwöhnt werden. Morgen dann die 20 Meilen ohne Wasserstelle durch die Wüste.
